About us

Multiple Sclerosis at Frenchay

The Bristol and Avon Multiple Sclerosis (BrAMS) Clinical Centre was opened at Frenchay Hospital in December 2008 and the MS Research Unit, formerly based at Bristol General Hospital, moved into BrAMS in June 2009.

The development of an integrated treatment and research centre for MS in Bristol has always been a key aim of the MS Research Unit. The move to BrAMS marked an event that we have strived to achieve for more than 10 years.

The MS Research Unit offers research studies and therapy services alongside the treatment and research activities of the neurology and neurosciences team at BrAMS. The Unit continues to pioneer innovative approaches to symptom management (see the Research studies page) and to furthering our understanding of the many aspects of living with and coping with MS (see the Treatment services page).

Please see the Contact us page for ways to contact the MS Research Unit.
